We had a great evening at our Grand Slam in November, and now we're excited to kick off our sixth season of live storytelling.

We’ll continue to host our slams virtually until further notice.

We hope you’ll join us on the third Tuesday of each month throughout 2021 - we’ve announced our themes for the year.

Our first Story Slam of the year is scheduled for Tuesday, January 19. The theme is FRESH START and Philip Given will be our MC.

There is no charge to register or attend. We will gratefully accept voluntary contributions via Venmo during the event and put them toward future events.

You must register in order to attend. Once you register, we'll send you a confirmation email that includes the link to watch on January 19. We will begin promptly at a 7 pm that evening. You'll click the link at the scheduled time from your laptop, tablet, or phone to join the call. You may wish to download the Zoom app if you don’t already have it, but it is not necessary to participate – if you don’t have it, the call will launch in your web browser. The app does give you access to more features, like voting for your favorite storyteller at the end of the evening.

And don't worry, we can't see attendees - only the storytellers are on the screen. Join us for an evening of live storytelling, from the comfort of your home. Register now, and you'll receive your own unique link to tune in that evening.

We are also pleased to announce that we’re once again partnering with the Cultural Alliance of York County for our January event. The Cultural Alliance of York County will host their annual CelebrateArts week of free cultural events January 18-23, 2021, both online and in real life. “Choose Your Own Adventure” throughout the week by livestreaming concerts from home, taking walks to see York’s beautiful murals, or taking an online art class. CelebrateArts was created by the Cultural Alliance of York County and their cultural partners to show the importance and impact that high quality arts experiences have on the health and vibrancy of our community.  We understand now more than ever the vital importance that the arts play in our lives. Visit culturalyork.org for information and a complete listing of activities.

As part of this weeklong celebration, the Cultural Alliance typically foots the bill for tickets to the January York Story Slam so that people can attend for free. This means the tickets “sell out” within about an hour every year. But here’s another silver lining to going virtual - we have unlimited space and won’t have to turn anyone away who wants to attend this year!

Want to tell a story?

UPDATE, JANUARY 17, 2021: STORYTELLER SIGN-UPS HAVE CLOSED! We will have eight storytellers participating in this event.

We're also looking for storytellers. We want to hear your stories of starting over, second chances, and clean slates. However you interpret this month's theme, we look forward to hearing your true stories.

If you'd like to sign up to be a storyteller, you'll need to sign up in advance by completing this form. We'll also need you to attend a rehearsal via Zoom the evening before on Monday, January 18 so we can do a quick run-through of the event and make sure everyone's links and equipment are working properly.

Storyteller sign-ups will remain open until noon on January 18, or until we have eight storytellers (whichever happens first).
